Yahoo Mural
At the end of 2011, I was commissioned by Collabo Arts to create a 33 foot by 10 foot mural for Yahoo's corporate headquarters in Sunnyvale, California. After a few revisions (most of the notes were, "Add more stuff. Everywhere!"), I sent the final vector art off to Collabo and Yahoo in the beginning of 2012. All of my invoices and fees were promptly paid, but shortly after I delivered the files, Yahoo laid off a large chunk of its workforce. As a result, most of the people I was working with to get this mural up on the walls at Yahoo were gone. Marissa Meyer started as CEO a few months after.
What I'm getting at here is that I'm fairly certain this mural hasn't and won't ever grace the walls of Yahoo's offices. It's probably destined to sit on a hard drive forever. Regardless, the experience was terrific and I'm really happy with the final art and to have the opportunity to create something so massive in scale. It was an honor to be commissioned for the job and I was told that when the image was shown around the offices and people were genuinely excited about the prospect of my art being on the walls of the building. One person was so happy with the final art that I'm told she cried with joy. Can't ask for much more than that, right?
